How Hair Restoration with PRP Works

If you are considering hair restoration in Phoenix, you may be wondering how the process works. One popular method is known as PRP— or platelet-rich plasma therapy. This treatment involves taking a small blood sample from the patient and separating the platelets. Next, the platelets release growth factors that promote healing and hair growth after injection under the skin. PRP therapy is effective for both men and women suffering from hair loss due to genetic factors, aging, or other medical conditions.

If you are interested in trying PRP for hair loss therapy, consult with one of our qualified hair restoration practitioners to see if it is right for you. Our DS Skin & Lips medical spa is renowned for our award-winning practitioners and the latest innovative cosmetic and aesthetic procedures. Conversely, if you have unwanted hair and are looking for laser hair removal, or the surrounding area, DS Skin & Lips offers this and many other desirable services.

The Procedure

People suffering from hair loss can become frustrated while trying to stop thinning or even baldness. DS Skin & Lips is proud to offer our clients a practical and relatively painless solution without turning to more invasive and expensive alternatives.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is one of the most effective hair restoration methods available on the market. Here's how it works:

First, we draw a small amount of blood from the patient.

Next, the blood goes into a centrifuge and spins to separate the platelets from the other cells.

Finally, the platelet injection into the scalp releases growth factors that stimulate hair follicles to grow.

PRP hair restoration therapy is safe and effective in treating both men and women suffering from thinning or complete hair loss. It is typical to have multiple sessions for optimal results. However, most patients see significant results after two or three treatments. While hair restoration with PRP is not a cure for baldness, it can significantly improve the scalp's condition and help promote new hair growth.

Don't let thinning hair become a more significant concern. Trust our board-certified nurse practitioners to answer any questions about our PRP hair treatment and help you schedule your first hair restoration.

Hair Restoration FAQ

Have you been considering hair restoration but have a few questions? You're not alone— our FAQ section covers some of our client's most common questions about PRP hair loss procedure.

However, if you don't find the answer you are looking for, please contact us, and our team members will be happy to assist you.

  • Who is a good candidate for this procedure?

If you're considering a hair transplant, you might be wondering what makes a good candidate. Generally, the best candidates are those with normal hormone levels, no health issues, and experiencing minimal to moderate hair loss.

However, every client is unique, and you should discuss particulars and any concerns with your practitioner to formulate an acceptable hair restoration plan for optimal results.

  • Is the procedure painful?

The pain scale for the PRP injections is relatively low and usually about 4/10 at most. The discomfort is temporary, and typically there is no pain after the treatment is complete. The side effects are also minimal and may include mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site, but typically resolve within a few days to a week.

Overall, the PRP injections have minimal discomfort and side effects. In addition, the DS Skin & Lips staff diligently ensures all our clients are relaxed and comfortable before, during, and after their hair restoration treatments.

  • How long after the procedure will I see results?

It is reasonable to expect the exciting first signs of hair growth. Yet, the first indication that your hair restoration is working is slowing hair shedding, which can be slightly alarming. But, don't worry— this is a good thing!

New hair growth can be seen as early as two months but is typically evident between five to eight months and will continue to improve up to a year after treatment.

  • Can PRP hair therapy cure hair loss?

Unfortunately, there is no “cure” for hair loss, which is terribly frustrating for people suffering from thinness of hair or baldness. However, PRP slows down the process and can stimulate the growth of dormant hair follicles.

PRP therapy is a new hair loss treatment showing promising results, and we have many satisfied clients who highly recommend our hair restoration services.

  • Is this procedure safe?

PRP therapy is safe because it uses the patient's own blood and platelets, so there is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction. Additionally, PRP therapy is minimally invasive and has few side effects. The most common side effect is mild bruising or swelling at the injection site, which typically resolves within a few days.

You can feel confident in DS Skin & Lips' PRP therapies. Yet should you have any questions or concerns, you are always free to speak with a trusted DS practitioner at any point during your consultation or treatment.

  • How much does this treatment cost?

The industry's pricing on PRP hair therapy varies per session from $400 - $1800, depending on the client's needs, geographic location, and the provider's credentials.

A series of four to six treatments spaced six weeks apart is ideal for optimal hair rejuvenation, and yearly maintenance is required to sustain results.

To get a detailed estimate of what PRP may cost you, please contact us, and we will be happy to assess your needs and make a treatment plan to suit.
