About the Procedure

Botox and Dysport are popular cosmetic treatments that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The procedure involves injecting a small amount of Botulinum toxin into the muscles of the face. The treatments temporarily paralyze the muscles that cause wrinkles, resulting in a smooth, youthful appearance. The Botox formula comes from onabotulinumtoxinA and Dysport from abobotulinumtoxinA. Both of these proteins are a derivative of botulinum toxin but have different molecular structures.

During the procedure, the injections feel similar to a slight prick or pinch sensation; however, clients find they are quite tolerable. Clients see an improvement with full effects in three to seven days and experience minimal redness, bruising, and swelling.

In addition to Botox, you may inquire about Juvederm fillers to help plump and transform your lips.

  • Botox

Botox tends to last longer than Dysport, with results typically lasting for four to six months.  Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles.

  • Dysport

Dysport may be more effective at treating certain types of wrinkles, such as crow's feet. Dysport tends to have a quicker onset of action than Botox, with results typically appearing within two to three days. Dysport for wrinkles works by blocking nerve signals that tell muscles to contract.

Treatment Areas

When it comes to cosmetic injectables, Botox and Dysport lip filler are two of the most popular options on the market. Both injectables can achieve various aesthetic goals, from reducing wrinkles to improving the overall appearance of the skin. They are most commonly used to treat the following areas:

  • Wrinkles in the upper half of the face, including the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes.
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Lips

In addition, Botox and Dysport help with off-label purposes, such as treating migraines, sweating, and muscle spasms. Injections are typically given every three to four months to maintain optimal results.

If you are looking for Botox in Phoenix or Scottsdale or Dysport for forehead wrinkles, trust the board-certified practitioners at DS Skin & Lips to attain all your cosmetic goals.

  • Who is a good candidate?

Botox is a popular treatment for both men and women of all ages. In general, good candidates for Botox are in good health and have realistic expectations for treatment results. However, it is important to note that Botox is not a permanent solution, and treatments will need readministering every few months to maintain results.

  • Does it hurt?

When it comes to Botox, there is a lot of misinformation out there. Some people believe the injectable is incredibly painful, while others think it is entirely painless. However, the truth lies somewhere in between, depending on a client's pain threshold. While these treatments will not typically cause pain, some people may experience a slight prickling sensation.

  • How much will I need?

Ultimately, the best injectable treatment for you will depend on your specific target areas and aesthetic goals. Botox comes in doses of between 50 and 100 units per vile, and your practitioner will calculate the number of units your target area requires.

Please discuss your goals and concerns during your consultation with one of our board-certified nurse practitioners. They will happily tailor your treatment around your desired results and expectations regarding lip filler and Botox.

  • Are there any side effects?

Some potential side effects of Botox include bruising, swelling, and drooping eyelids. There is also a risk of headaches, which is also transient in nature; however, these side effects are typically mild and temporary, usually resolving within 2-3 days.
