Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are cosmetic injectables used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other types of facial volume loss. As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin, which can lead to a sunken or hollow appearance. Dermal facial and lip fillers are made from materials like hyaluronic acid and can help to add volume and hydration to the skin.

Dermal fillers are most commonly injected into the lips and cheeks but can also be used to treat other areas like the jawline, nasolabial folds, and under-eye hollows. The procedure is relatively quick and easy, and the results are immediate. There is little to no downtime associated with dermal filler injections, though you may experience some redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. While initial results are immediate, dermal fillers can take up to four weeks to fully integrate into the target area.

Dermal fillers are an excellent option for those looking for a non-surgical way to improve their appearance. So, if you are considering Juvederm fillers or Botox, book a complimentary consultation at DS Skin & Lips, where we can assess your individual needs and determine whether this treatment is the right choice for you!

How Dermal Fillers Work

Dermal fillers are a popular cosmetic treatment that can help to smooth away wrinkles and fine lines. However, many different dermal fillers are available, so consult with one of our qualified professionals to find the best one for your needs.

Before undergoing treatment, it is essential to inform us of any allergies or medical conditions you may have. Then, during the procedure, your practitioner will inject the filler into your skin using a fine microneedle while keeping you as comfortable as possible. Afterward, you may experience some temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. However, these side effects should resolve within a few days. It is wise to avoid touching or rubbing the treated area to minimize the risk of infection.

Dermal fillers can provide youthful-looking skin, but the results are not permanent. Lasting results may vary according to each client's unique metabolism and body; however, dermal fillers can last anywhere from six to twelve months.

If you are considering lip fillers, discuss your goals and expectations with us here at DS Skin & Lips. We offer complimentary consultations so you can learn more about our services, such as IPL Facials in Scottsdale, and how we can help you achieve your beauty goals.

  • What areas can be treated?

Dermal fillers are versatile and treat various areas, including the lips, cheeks, and forehead, for wrinkles and facial creases where the muscles are resting.

Speak to your DS practitioner about which injectable treatments best suit your cosmetic goals and expectations. From there, we can customize the right treatment plan and schedule your first appointment.

  • Does the treatment hurt?

Dermal filler injections utilize a tiny microneedle to administer the serum under the skin in the target area. While every client experience is unique, most would describe filler injections as slight pinching in the area. However, the procedure is relatively quick and easy, and our staff is diligent about ensuring you are comfortable and relaxed at all times.

If you are nervous about receiving cheek fillers or fillers to any other area, speak with your compassionate and friendly practitioner. We are always considerate of your needs and look to ease any nervousness or discomfort you may have.

  • How long do results last?

Dermal fillers are a non-permanent solution to fine lines, wrinkles, and other facial imperfections, with results varying according to each person's metabolism.

Although, on average, dermal fillers can last six months to a year before absorbing into the body and potentially needing further injections. During your consultation, a DS practitioner will assist with any questions, including what you can expect for lasting results.

Preparation for Treatment

To prepare for dermal filler injections, we have a few recommendations to implement at least two days before your appointment:

  1. Avoid using any facial or topical products containing Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, etc.
  2. Do not use hair removal products, like hot wax
  3. Do not bleach or tweeze facial hair

Some clients may consider taking Arnica two days before their dermal filler injections to minimize discomfort and swelling. There is minimal discomfort associated with the procedure, and we do everything possible to ensure your complete comfort. Most people consider dermal fillers a minimal prickling sensation, and there is no need for anesthesia. Although the results are not permanent, they can last up to six months before required touch-ups.

Facial fillers utilize hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body, to help with elastin and collagen production. During the treatment, our board-certified nurse practitioner carefully injects Juvederm filler into the treatment area using a micro needle. The injections take only a few minutes to complete and provide an immediate difference with full results within four weeks.

At DS Skin & Lips, we understand that everyone's skin is unique. That's why we offer complimentary consultations to help our clients find the right treatments for their individual needs. To schedule a consultation, and learn more about Juvederm, give us a call or book online today!

The FDA-approved Juvederm ULTRA PLUS XC is a safe and effective way to restore your face’s natural beauty.

This product contains modified forms of hyaluronic acid, which can naturally occur in our bodies, and ingredients for added volume in areas where we have lost some from age or stress, such as around the mouth’s parenthesis/marionette lines.

It instantly smooths out any wrinkles while filling them so that you will notice an amazing difference in your complexion.

  • Juvederm ULTRA XC

Juvederm ULTRA XC utilizes a modified form of hyaluronic acid. Its purpose is to add volume and hydrate the skin. It is a gel that instantly smooths wrinkles and lines or areas of volume loss.

Juvederm ULTRA XC injections help the wrinkles around the mouth (commonly described as “smoker’s lines”) or to add volume to the lips.

It is an excellent choice in areas with minimal volume or loss as it is not as thick as some other dermal fillers.

  • Juvederm Volbella® XC

Juvederm Volbella XC is a new and improved version explicitly designed for use in the lip area. It’s smooth enough not to irritate sensitive skin but firm enough that it will last longer than other types on sale now— so you don’t have any worries about its effects wearing off before your next procedure!

  • Perioral Rhytids

Many clients are bothered by the lines that can appear around the lips, also known as Perioral Rhytids. Volbella adds a softer appearance around the mouth to eliminate smoker lines, adds volume to atrophied volume due to age, and puckers the verticle lines known as smile lines.

  • Juvederm Vollure

With its ability to maintain moisture without flooding your skin, Juvederm Vollure can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines. It's also great for refreshing the lower section of the face or neck!

Restylane Fillers

As we age, it's not uncommon to lose volume in our faces. It can leave us looking tired, worn, and even angry. One of the biggest concerns people have is sagging skin under their eyes, which can make them look much older than they are. Restylane is an injectable filler specifically designed to treat this problem.

Restylane is a precisely engineered clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that acts like your body's naturally produced hyaluronic acid. It also helps to visibly correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane may also be used for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years.

The most common side effects are bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, lumps/bumps, pain, itching, and discoloration. These side effects generally resolve on their own within a week or two. Results typically last six months or longer, with required touch-ups as time goes on. If you are looking for a way to achieve younger-looking skin, Restylane may be right for you!

Types of Restylane Fillers

Restylane fillers are a type of injectable cosmetic filler made from hyaluronic acid. There are several different Restylane fillers, each designed for a specific purpose.

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is a specifically designed dermal filler for lip enhancement. It adds volume and definition to the lips and fills in fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Made from hyaluronic acid, Restylane Silk is a substance that occurs naturally in the body.

As we age, our levels of hyaluronic acid decrease, which can lead to dryness, wrinkles, and a loss of volume in the skin. Restylane Silk replenishes the skin's supply of hyaluronic acid, resulting in softer, smoother, and more youthful-looking lips. In addition, Restylane Silk contains lidocaine, which helps minimize discomfort during the injection process. If you are considering lip augmentation, Restylane Silk is an excellent option to achieve natural-looking results.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft is a commonly used injectable dermal filler that adds volume to the face. Restylane Lyft treats nasolabial folds— which are the lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the sides of the nose. It can also add volume to the cheeks and lips. In addition, Restylane Lyft improves the appearance of scars and other facial wrinkles.

The results of Restylane Lyft are immediate and can last for up to six months. In addition, there are minimal side effects associated with this procedure, making it a safe and effective option for those looking to improve their appearance.

 Restylane Refyne

Restylane Refyne is a new dermal filler shown to be very effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles. When injected into the skin, it binds to water molecules and plumps the skin, smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. Specifically formulated to be as elastic as possible, Restylane Refyne moves with your facial expressions without causing any unnatural-looking stiffness.

In clinical trials, patients treated with Restylane Refyne reported a significant reduction in the appearance of both fine lines and deeper wrinkles. The results are noticeable but natural-looking and can last up to 12 months. If you are concerned about wrinkles and want to explore your treatment options, please book a complimentary consultation with us!

Restylane Defyne

Restylane Defyne is a dermal filler that treats moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the mouth). Unlike other fillers, Restylane Defyne uses XpresHAn Technology™ to correct these deeper wrinkles. This technology creates a natural-looking result that helps restore your skin's flexibility and youthful appearance. In addition, Restylane Defyne resists breaking down in areas of facial movements, such as around the nose and mouth.

As a result, it can help you maintain your natural expression for up to 12 months. So if you are looking for a dermal filler that can smooth away deep wrinkles and give long-lasting results, Restylane Defyne may be right for you.
